I like how you've lit this portrait. Is there a light lower down and behind him? Also, I wonder if you'd mind telling the exposure, camera and lens info?

Hi Brian

Nikon D700 / Nikon 24-70mm F2.8 AF-S

Shot against a black backdrop (dark side of my Lastolite 6x7' Hi-Lite)

Two Lastolite Lumen8 400W lights. One directly behind his head with just the spill-kill fitted. The other at camera right bounced off a white brolley. Both lights set to the same power.

1/200" at F/11 - ISO200

Thanks a lot, Dave. Studio lighting (and artificial illumination for photography in general) is a complete mystery to me. I need to learn something about it and your explanation helps.

Much appreciated.
