Critique Welcomed Lower Yosemite Falls

_AGP8706.jpg

Taken at Lower Yosemite Falls this past January. It was a particularly dry winter here in California, and it was never more obvious than visiting Yosemite in the middle of January. A time when there should have been snow everywhere, there was barely any to be seen on the peaks. The waterfalls were barely a dribble and I really hope things turn around in the near future. Taken with a 5DmkIII and 16-35mm f/2.8L II

Certainly not what you expect for Yosemite in January, but it does make for a very interesting photo, Abram. I love the quality of the rocks in the foreground, big chunky boulders softened by the presence of the water. Then the two big rock formations guarding the outer edges of the frame, leading the eye through to the trees and distant hills. Perfect.

The absence of snow does not detract from what is a fine landscape shot Abram. I enjoy this for the same reasons as outlined by Rob but also for the cold, bleak atmosphere that comes accross.

I appreciate a good picture when I see one, and right now I did, but it also reveals that there probably is an environmental change going on which we all have to think about and be aware of.

Thank you all, I've been trying to improve my ultra-wide compositions recently, because even though I thought I was doing it right all along, I lacked an appealing foreground most of the time. Just had to keep experimenting.
