Manchester Crown Court

Don't wish to bore too much, but this is needed for the background emotions..
Today I've been to the crown court, and no, I've not been a naughty boy, it was simply to sit in, make notes and finish my university coursework.
I left the house at 8, got back at 3.. Very long, boring, cold and tired.

There, the scene is set.. Miserable, cold, tired.

I got home, I have a parcel.. Ooh must open it very very fast especially as the parcel is shaped like a lens :I

And yes, my 50mm off ebay arrived. Pentacon Praktica 50mm 1.8 MC. It came in a leather case box thingy (which I didn't know about) and with a little leather front cap (very snazzy) and the PB -> EOS adapter.

It is sadly however going away for Xmas, but I took some pictures with it and its in absolutely PERFECT condition optically, and a good 9/10 cosmetically, only 9 due to a few markings are ever so slightly worn - but who cares!

After having a play with it, it's perfect for me, it takes ages to turn the focus from 0 to infinity which should help me get focusing correct on my lego, I also love the aperture ring, I really do believe all modern lenses should have the option to have one - I hate how you change aperture by menus on 600d. Either lenses should have a ring, or I should have a better camera lol.
Ah I'm waffling!

Here's pictures of the lens (taken on iPhone)

Anyone reckon I'm excited? Lol

Looks prakticaly mint! (See what I did there)
im sure you will be very happy together ...

Fact of the day
"pentacon" comes from pentagon and contax ... A pentagon being the shape of the prism in an slr

(So it must be right ;))

If it came from Wikipedia, it must be true ;) lol

I think I'm just so happy with it because it passed my expectations, I didn't really expect so much from an old and cheap lens, I can safely say though that from now on, ill only buy old lenses, for the price of 1 normal I could replace an old one 3 times over.
I don't think I need any more lenses now... Apart from a wide angle one just to finish me off.
Any suggestions? :P

... It's a shame I sold those wides I had ...
The Mayer lydith had a pentacon successor that was multi coated (from what I understand) that is supposed to be pretty good!

Well Hamish, what's going on with your timings? Don't you know I'm now an old lens fan? Tut tut. Lol
