Critique Welcomed Medium format newbie...

These images are from the second and third rolls I ran through the RB67. I've still got a ways to go before I feel comfortable with it. Hopefully more experience with the camera will result in better images. These are ok, but I expect to do better.

These hats were still on the shooting table from the pinhole session, so they became my first still life with the RB67.

I posted a shot like this taken with my D7200. When I first looked at the medium format image, I thought it was very blurry compared to the digital image. After a little thought, I realized it was more a matter of DOF and where I set the focus.

IMO, this is not a very good shot. I wasn't going to include it until I remembered that this is not really a post to show my best. It is a post to show my early attempts. There are a number of changes I would make if I took this shot again.

Looks like you're getting the hang of it pretty quick John.
Thanks, Brian. I'm playing around with an idea for a whole series of shots. I hope to start experimenting today.

Well, although I can see your reasoning that these are work in progress, I think they are really good shots, well exposed, and all very different. I'd have been delighted if my first attempts were this good. Augers well.

I agree. It does.
Thanks, Pete and Rob. It seems I've become very demanding as I age. I should be thrilled that the shots came out even half-way decent. They could very easily have been blank or grossly over or under exposed. After some cogitation, I realized most of my dissatisfaction is not due to any failure in the camera or film. It is more about lighting, composition, and settings/focus. The top one could have been lit better. The hat on top has too much light hitting it from the left. The middle one could have been a focused a bit better. The bottom one needed a smaller aperture for more dof and could also have benefited from more creative positioning. But, all in all, I'm fairly happy with these shots for early attempts. It gives me confidence going forward.
