Mevagissey

Lesley Jones

Otherwise know as Zooey
With abject apologies to Julian, I didn't like Mevagissey very much. Perhaps I should explain that in early September there were still a lot of people around and I don't do crowds. In the middle of winter I could absolutely see the charm of the place, or on a summer evening when the tourists have gone. I battled to park the car. I battled to get down to the harbour without being mown down by cars, or trodden on. (That's one of the disadvantages of being so small). I found an injured seagull and nearly got hit by a van as I tried to get it to safety. :(

I took exactly one shot and this was it. Then I had a bag of chips and drove back to the B&B...

Lesley I agree fully it is the visitors , well most of them yourself and Dan excluded of course.:D But most of Cornwall and the world is like this now. I just love it when the Times or the Guardian
print the destinations of those lovely ideal locations off the beaten track, which are only soo nice because no one tells anyone about them, except them who spoil it. February is one of the nicest months, when the sun is out.
I know this small beach on the back of Island quay well, a good place to snorkel as kids and see lots of fish.

A nice capture and knowing the location well, the colours are perfection.

Cheers Julian. Someone said the same about Wistman's Wood. It was voted one of the top ten locations in some paper a couple of years back and was inundated with photographers. I loved the place, but I was never alone, with about 20 visitors in my two hour stay. Dartmoor is the place to go - more than half a mile from a parking space and you can be entirely alone... :)
