Tech Support (and Marketing)
I picked up this lens today, its a Meyer-Optik Gorlitz Trioplan 2.8/100.
A little bit of research online tells me it dates from the 50's. There is a nice write up on it here Meyer-Optik Görlitz Trioplan 100mm f/2.8 « Camerajunky inc tech info on the sort of lens it is - a "triplet" meaning it is made up of only three glass elements.
Im trying to learn about these lens formulas a bit at the mo as I guess it might help my continue to track down other gems.
The main attraction for me was the wide open performance which appears to give a similar soft lovely photos to my Leica summarit ...

Mine is m42 mount and im still waiting for the m42/nex adapter to turn up so I've not taken any photos with it yet. I will pop some here when I do though!

in the mean while, as you might have already seen ... I made a video :)

Here are some more photos of it. Another lens in my collection that produces lovely dreamy photos wide open

... They wanted £100 for it in LCE, but I got them down to £51 based on the price this one went for MEYER-OPTIK TRIOPLAN 100MM F2 8 LENS - EXAKTA FITTING 29 99

... I think its 15 blades

Thats also a beautiful video being shot with that lens, those many many aperture blades make for an amazing out of focus background

p.s. thats where I got my Argus C2 and 35mm lens, its a pretty cool site :)

I make it 15 as well. The 16 wasn't definitive and having looked further I can't find another reference to this and one other person mentions 15 - it seems there was only one type. They are pretty common on German eBay but sounds like you struck a damned good bargain there as they go for 100+ Euros. :)

Cheers David

Happy Days!

I was after a jupiter-9 ... but i think this has made a perfect alternative... I did want something long too!

Hamish i think you would also like the Meyer Golitz Orestor 135mm f2.8 (zebra stripes), later Pentacon (zebra stripes).
15 blades. Mebe its too close to 100mm.
I had the 135mm dreamy bokeh.

Thanks Ahmad, I have been looking at the later Meyer-optik lenses since finding this one, the 135 may well be one thats ended up on my radar ... Ill have to check my watch list on ebay again

I actually have another meyer lens on an exa, but I had written off mounting it to anything else due to the mount being exa and the lens being pretty much as cheap in m42 mount as the m42/nex mount adapter ...
Im wondering if I should re-consider ... exa mount meyer lenses seem to go pretty cheaply

Welcome Hamish :) When i used to search ebay there were a few gems in exakta (a fair amount less in ££). At the time i didnt have mirrorless so i had to pass them by.

That is both a great photo and a really nice lens performance, such a smooth image and yet sharp where it needs to be :)

I have a similar lens in my collection, an M42 Meyer Orestor 135mm, f3.5 - I think it's the zebra looking one.

Here's an old shot taken with it:kin Meyer lens.jpg

You're welcome to borrow it :) It's f/2.8 not f/3.5

I also have the Jupiter 37a 135mm, SMC 135mm f/3.5, Meyer Lydia 30mm and a couple of other SMCs.
