These brightly colored flowers thrive in springs and seeps at high elevations. These were photographed below Red Eagle Glacier in Glacier National Park a little over a week ago.
I'm told that monkey flowers got their name from the fact that droplets of dew form in the flower on quiet mornings. And if the observer looks real close at the drop of water he/she will see a little monkey returning the gaze.
