Critique Required Mood?

Thanks Gianluca. Glad it's not just me! Honestly, I'm always happy to just write off a photo as a learning experience and carry on, but I'm just not sure about this one. Maybe the forest is just one of those places that seem to have their own mood, at least to a suggestable human😉

Please accept that I am no expert and my opinion is worth little, however I think the photo is a little too contrasty and dark. I would be looking for a witches cottage made of gingerbread around here! The time of day and direction of the light would make a difference, perhaps, if the location permits, with the sun more behind the camera?

Thanks Bill! Yes... It was the way the light caught the small trees that caught my eye but yes I'm sure it could be very different at different times day. Hm.
I find forests very difficult to photograph.
Thanks Brian. They can be temperamental can't they?
😉

, but Steve knows how to capture forests. I suppose in this case the camera sensor is to blame.
Ha! 😆 Thanks for the compliment, Gianluca, but no, I take the blame. A better camera than the old E400 would certainly make it easier to process, but the composition and concept is on me.
Just not one of my best efforts 😂

I think you were attracted by the mood of the place. It was probably the ferns and side lit trees in the lower centre so maybe as someone once said, if you are not satisfied with a photo you weren't close enough. I beleive he was a war photographer so he should know!
