They do that! Gorgeous slimy texture. Probably a species of Armillaria.

Some species are if you cook them well. I'd avoid them myself.

Err... on the other hand, no they are delicious raw (and can you let Susan know I'd be very interested in your Hexar should you ever have an 'accident'!).
