I was trying to explain the famous photo of the "Afghan Girl" to someone yesterday, they weren't sure what i was talking about until I showed them the picture... I'm not sure there is anyone in the western world who wont be aware of this photo. But as it turns out, the Afghan girl herself wasn't aware of the impact her photo had.
Whilst search for the picture on google I spotted this picture:
I was in a bit of a hurry at the time so I didnt investigate what it was about but remembered this morning and decided to look it up again.
It turns out Steve McCurry went back to where he took the photo to see if he could find her...
The story by National Geographic is very much worth a read!
