Near the Salzburg Fortress

At the bottom of the impressive cliff where the Salzburg Fortress is looming over the city, a small monastery lives undisturbed since the 7th century. It is the oldest monastery still in existence, in the German-speaking world. St. Peter's Abbey is indeed spectacular, and one can (and should) immerse in its ancient history. While I could not visit the inside places (it was the 1st of Jan, therefore closed), I took my time to have a good look around.
