New Bridge Across the Forth

Not a great photo this, by any means, but it shows the very beginnings of a new bridge stretching across the Forth. They say we will have three iconic bridges next to each other, but I can only think of one, the rail bridge. Anyway, this new one seems very close to the present road bridge.

It would be nice to make a photographic record of the construction, and I'm sure someone or some people are doing just that, and with more appropriate cameras than I have. I'm afraid my shot - from a train on the Forth Bridge - does not quite come up to the standard of Evelyn George Carey's great shots of the construction of the Forth Bridge. Note the nomenclature: The Forth Road Bridge and The Forth Bridge - not The Forth Rail Bridge. I wonder what the new one will be called? Probably something boring, like The New Forth Road Bridge. I'd prefer The Third Span. I can hear the sound track to the speeded-up construction video now...

On reflection, my medium format camera might be able to catch some of the Carey vibe...

Rob for a minute I thought you had the Mami poked out of the train window. Worth a try and maybe a first? Very good idea and looking forward to seeing the many images that will arise from this project. Early morning pics are good at sunrise...:D

I like that saturated image Rob. I think it works so well because the bridge itself is so restrained compared to the dense tones of the foreground. And the Mamiya is certainly up to the job. Maybe it would be worth scouting round for a 50mm and 150mm to go with it. Like the camera itself, the optics are absolute bargains at the moment.

Maybe you should start a campaign to get the new bridge called The Third Bridge! (I bet that's never been suggested before! ;))

I like what Pete suggests. Or "The Third Forth Bridge" (Or The Forth Third Bridge for foties taken with such cameras! ;)) Also, sunset shots are best achieved as evening is setting in.

I like the saturated bridge shot, Rob!

Interesting that,...but the artist's been reading too many Zane Gray novels. The picture looks like its an indian tribe on the Great Plains, teepee and all. :D
