Not an in-depth review - sorry - but a a positive one for sure.
I thought I'd bring the DP2M along, but the venue was very dark (and loud) so these are the best I could do.
We all know Davie as a passionate man - passionate about photography, passionate about the mountains, hills, rivers and lochs of Scotland. He is also passionate about music, and, it turns out, tattoos! One of which is a selfie...
The Parlour is a cafe-bar in Leith - a once thriving port, then drugs and prostitution moved in, then the yuppies. Nowadays it has a bit of everything. The Parlour's clientele appreciate art - there is a new exhibition there every month, and stuff gets sold. Davie sold one when I was there, and other orders have been made. I even put an order in for a tay Bridge black and white epic image.
Some of you will remember Allan Batchelor from RPF Forum? Allan was in attendance, and apologises for being too busy at work, and with his hobby of archery. But hopefully we'll see him back here soon.
Davies landscapes are well-known and loved here at RPF, and I'd seen a one or two of the exhibits here before, but there was much that was new to me. It's really inspiring to see seventeen (is that right, Davie?) of his images gathered together in one place. Sadly the light was quite low, and only a few of the images had a light shining on them. I might try to get back to the Parlour during daylight, as some of the finer details escaped me.
Well, what can I say? Pack your bags and make your way to Leith. The exhibition and the port are well worth a visit.
