Newlyn Abstracts

The vignette makes them different indeed and adds a little mystery.. Love the golden glow of the first one and on close inspection there are nice drips of water evident too.. Great colour in the second image. I think the colour ladder trumps the B/W but not by much. The chains have produced great shadows making it busier than it actually is. Julian your eye is constantly roaming

Julian turns to the dark side

Love them, though. More of an edge to them, compared to the more usual abstracts. Intriguing.
Is it the dark side? maybe, not sure myself. I thought quite colourful and cheerful , can see what you say though. Thanks and comments always appreciated.

Thanks Tom, I think my eyes do roam come to think of it. I was with someone that day and had spoken how it takes me about an hour or so until I really start to see things that make half decent photographs. Going on this day that worked out to be correct. Obviously some days are more baron than others.

Sometimes the eye won't work at all. Last year I walked six miles along the banks of the Thames and did not click once. A month later I did the same walk and must have clicked nearly 200 times.

Yes there is no uncertainty or certainty. Those times though when lost in thought and looking, is for me anyway , seriously enjoyable.

I can add little for to what has been said already except to add my praise. Actually what I do find interesting is the slight difference between these and the abstracts you presented a couple of years ago. Same overall feel and way of seeing but a slightly different presentation. Definitely a slight darker view (but not oppressive at all).

Can't find the sot of buoys I was thinking of but…

Thanks Pete, yes I hope things do move on, it is actually something a camera can influence, to what extent I am not sure. I certainly use the 5DMK2 , very differently to the EM-5 and the Merllin's .
I've yet to be able to a chive this type of image with the Merrills.

This may well be close to what you were thinking Pete. which was around the time I joined RPF .

Troubling when you look back and many of the images appear to be more enjoyable than the present days ones
