Great lens, the vr is brill for indoor handheld stuff! (why i got it over the 14-24 2.8)
Good enough range for a walk about landscape lens ... SHARP!!

buy one!

... does have some quite noticeable barrel distortion at the wide end ... thats the one negative I can think of ...

A quick tick of the lens profile box in ACR and away the distortion goes!

But - I want a D800 now too [doh]

Yeah, same in LR ... In fact it's the first thing I do when processing now ... I've nearly gone as far to create a preset that is automatically applied on adding image to the gallery ... But sometimes it seems to over egg a bit especially with the 24-70 on the vignetting correction ... Anyway, I'm going off course a bit here...

the photo is a bit crap, but there are a few things it shows off as far as the d800 goes ... One being the resolution that's on tap...
get one, they are down to like 2k now ... You might get Hal way there selling the d700!
