I'd like to get some feed-back, if any friend at RPF with glasses used the above combination.
How convenient the viewfinder is with glasses, and also bokeh rating on the lens which has 9 blades.
Suppose to be the best lens of its time.
Thank you. :)

Nihat, I've moved this thread to the film cameras section as the classifieds section wasnt quite right for it.

Anyway, just to add to the gas

I dont wear glasses, so I cant comment on the vf in that respect, but it is large! I really like the camera ... apart from the digital readout of the shutter speed. its just not that easy to read especially in lower light. I would rate the fm2n better for lower light work as the meter is led based. The hp finder does have a little light, but its a bit fiddly to use

As for the lens ... I can take some photos with it today if you like. Ill stick in on the d800 and put up some full size photos for you. What would you like shots of? out of focus tree? that seems to be that standard bokeh test :)

It is a lovely lens! not especially sharp wide open, but you dont have to stop down far for it to become very impressive!

Thank you very much indeed, Hamish. This is great feed-back. I have been scanning Nikkor 50mm f1.2 images to get a feel of its bokeh and sharpness, and read few review. I think I have a good idea what the lens could do by now. The camera's weight is a concern. It's almost as heavy as Mamiya 7 body.

Perhaps, FM2 would not be suitable for me??

The idea is to be able to see the full view without damaging my glasses. Otherwise Olympus design and compactness is something I have always enjoyed. So, I am considering to replace all my Olympus gear with a strip down 2-3 lens SLR manual film camera system like Nikon.

Thanks again. :)

Thank you very much, Pete. Nikkor 50mm f1.2 lens's 9 blade construction certainly creates some dramatic backdrops. The alternative was a Leica M3 with Summicron 50mm f2.0. M3 is claimed to be the best body Leica built. Yet that would be a repeat with Mamiya 7 in some ways (e.i. min. focus limitations). And the viewfinder will still be an issue like it is with OM-1N MD. I read that there are different magnification options for Leica, and perhaps an M-6 is better for a photographer with glasses. I'll have to see one. :)
