It was on EBay and got very busy at work and missed the end and got outbid

It looked in pretty good condition going by the pics. They tend to go for around 150-200 on Ebay by looks of it

That's about the right price Allan. Mint condition examples go for up to £500. This one was bought from someone in Japan for about £200. It appears to be either unused or has had very, very little use. Postage was quite high and maybe that put people off as no one else bid and I bought it for £2 more than the starting price (I'd set myself a limit of £425!). There were some tatty ones that sold at the same time in the UK for the same price! Bizarre. I bought it to fill the gap in the 'collection' between the F3 and the F6.

I want to give this film lark a go and wanted a decent camera

Theres a couple of decent looking canon eos 3;s but im no sure about canons as no used one yet lol

Well, if you went for a Nikon Body at least you could use many of the lenses of the D300s as well. DX lenses will fit a film camera but vignette but AIS etc will work on both.

Ye thats why was thinking Nikon but there seems be some tidy looking canons about.

Damn all this film stuff its too complicated
