Popped into London camera exchange today, they had the new Nikon J1 and V1 ...
I have to say I was very impressed with the feel of them!
very solid feeling bits of kit
I spent a little bit more time tinkering with the v1, it was a white one, it had the same sort of feel of quality as he olympus pen range! good weight to it! the 10-30 lens was a little like the olympus kit lens with it being a collapsible design that lock and unlocks ... although i did feel the lens felt a touch on the flimsy side compared to the body!
Fairly sparse buttons gave it a very menu driven feel to it, and although the menu was quite expansive it did seem fairly well laid out!
Much more impressed overall than i was expecting to be and with the recent dxo reports I'm beginning to get a grasp of why with price tag is what it is!
anyway, not that they tell you very much, here are a couple of snaps i took with it outside the front of LCE

I should have a bit more access to them in the near future so i will come back to this with more thoughts in good time ...

To be honest, the pictures look more digitcam like than DSLR (or is it due to site compression?), I guess that's expected consider its sensor size...

For the price, not to mention the hoopla from Nikon themselves, I'd expect near dSLR like quality. I for one am looking forward to seeing an in-dept review of these babies. Has anyone seen one yet?

We know of 1 dealer who has tried it & thought it was not good at all & another PRO dealer who has sold 2 & had both back as they were described as awfull to use !? Customers were not impressed & had to be given refunds.
Should have chosen the Fuji as it is brilliant, the new one to be anounced in Jan has 3 lenses wide std & tele all fixed, no zoom as yet should be awsome & a must see at focus in March.
