Not quite Macro

Out in Ibiza again, I came across this strange bug. and I thought Its colours against the backround was quite appealing.. I haven't adjusted anything except sharpness and cropping.

That's something I should force myself to do more, get some background into the image to show the bigger picture.
I always go for the frame filling close up.

I wasn't to sure weather it had so much vacant space that it seemed to 'waste' the rest of the frame away....hence 'Not quite Macro' but I think the response has reassured me that it does work!

Does any know what it is?? I'm guessing pete would be good on this one!

Well it's a Shield Bug of some sort. Maybe Coreus spp. My guess is that Rense might be able to get closer than that.

those things freak me out, bugs dont tend to freak me out ... just ones you dont see very often!
I like this shot, but you know how we wanted the cat closer to the corner
I think the same might apply here ...?

It was quite a size to be fair.
Put it this way, if it landed on my face I'd do the funky chicken dance! Lol
I did crop it a bit further than that, but it didn't look right on this shot.
It seemed to change the picture entirely and lost a bit of that soft bokeh texture I was hoping to keep, that balances it out nicely.
Ill have another play with it tonight

I think it's a nice shot because it's a shield bug taken from the non obvious angle. Normally you see photographs of them taken from above to show how much it looks like a shield. I think this angle is more interesting and the background adds a bit of context to the image as well.
