Not at all. You possess a compelling aesthetic that reveals the beauty of the otherwise mundane.
A Holga, with its inherent flaws and soft look will, in my opinion, suit what you do very well indeed. I think you'll shoot some crackers with a Holga, especially in B&W!
Or,...what about a Kodak Brownie Hawkeye Flash Model? It's designed to shoot 6x6 images on 620 film, but Kodak screwed up and 120 spools will fit in the delivery end (although you need a 620 spool for the take-up end).
I have 5 of them, including the required 620 take-up spools.
Here's a link to an article I wrote a while back about the Brownie. Have a read, and if you're interested let me know and I'll send one down to you.
Excellent. These work very well indeed Steve. I have never owned nor used a Holga but I have seen some great work from them. Very atmospheric if done well. Could give something like this.
I like the two opposing angles on the roof in the second shot; they balance nicely. The only thing I would change in the first (and that is because I seem to be obsessed with these things!) is to make a tiny crop to get the leading line to intersect with the bottom LH corner. I like them both very much though.
He wants a camera that shoots square images, Hamish. That's why I suggested a Holga. I also think the Holga style would add a new dimension to Steve's work. I don't think it takes away anything; what he has is still there.
