(1) Stanley also noted that these two canine metaphorical abstracts clearly exemplify the "problem of universals" shortly before taking off after something rustling in the bushes.

Well,...clearly Stanley has his priorities firmly planted in here and now. Which is to say,....Stanley's no mug! ;)

Steve,...I see you have been practicing the art of voice-throwing again,...an artifice at which you appear to be particularly adept, at least insofar as the canine world is concerned. However, I might suggest that that one of your minions--fist initial S--may in fact be humoring you, such is his intelligence.

Say Steve,...what about the Brownie Hawkeye Flash,...? How goes it with that delightful capturer of light?

I have two rolls of 120 film on the way. One color and one b/w. I took it apart and cleaned it up. I stuck with ASA 100. That should work in normal daylight right?

Oh yes,...100 ASA will be the cat''s meow. For daylight images, that is. However, let's not forget that the Brownie Hawkeye Flash has a B mode and this, along with it's flat bottom, allows for timed exposures, assuming a flat substrate upon which to steady the camera and a persistent finger to hold the shutter release down for whatever amount of time one sees fit.

I am starting to come to the conclusion that Steve is not actually a member here on RPF. In fact it is really Stanley and Steve is just his pet who is only really kept around for use of his opposing thumbs and their ability to open cans of food.

I knew some form of artifice was involved, but I assumed the artificer to be Steve. But by Jove that is a stoater of a theory you have postulated, Paul, and it has rocked my belief system! I never thought of that at all.

---Pause---

I have now given your theory several seconds of serious consideration and I have concluded that you are absolutely correct! Stanley!!!
