Open University Course Week 3

Lots of discussion of motion this week, and different camera settings to achieve that, as well as different lighting effects. I must admit that it got too mathematical for me at times, but they did say ''You don't need to know this bit..'' so I will go back later when my brain hasn't so many other things to worry about.

I tried a few experimental shots related to the topics, some of them interesting, some less so. Your thoughts very much appreciated. I went for an old fashioned edit on the first two...

Something more traditional here. I was lining up a shot of the lady, when out of the blue the runner appeared.

Here I experimented with white-outs...

Not too sure about the angle on the first two but I like the effect. The motion works well though. The last is my favourite though. It almost has a collage-like effect. It looks like it needs a tiny tilt to the left though to me. I'm not sure about the framing on the runner. He's too central and overlaps with the walker too much to give the contrast in movement it needs.

Thanks, Pete. I think you are right about the slight tilt in the last. As for the runner clashing with the woman - I had no choice there, but I should have urged the lady to get a move on. Nothing worse than lazy models!

Thaks, Paul. Interesting comment. I agree that the vertical and horizontal aspects are 'difficult'. Not sure if I can recover that without losing something. I was thinking everyone would say, "were you drunk?" - so I'm pleased some people like it.
