Critique Welcomed Oppressive

Some Soviet style buildings. Utilitarian but obviously not in that chic Shaker style.

i like them. wouldn't mind seeing that light up top cropped out though.

Nice. Not the most inviting of streets. Mind, you say not in the Shaker style, but I bet every cell has the right contents!

I did try out various crops and thought about cropping the light which would mean cropping the car as well so that the cables could not seen. I do now wonder if that would be a better crop.

if the light and car went then the lone guy on the street would really stand out against the buildings. but if you're trying to show the street scene against the out of place buildings then leave the car and light in. guess it all comes down to what you want the focus to be.

Although I like the lamp cropping it and the car out (maybe even excluding the LH doorway) creates quite a strong. graphic image. It almost has a Hopperesque feel to it.

Pretty much. It's a bit claustrophobic but I like the graphic elements and something about the light and shade reminds me of the paintings of Hopper.

Thanks, The closed in feel certainly goes along with the oppressiveness of the architecture too.
