Yes Aldous . My daughter and I backpacked Guizou, Yunnan and Sichuan Provinces for two months back in 2006. Fantastic trip and we seem to have covered a lot of the ground that you did. Really enjoying and trying to identify the places in you images.

Wow, backpacked for two months must be pretty amazing. Places around China is getting very commercial nowadays so I am trying to visit at least couple of places around in China before full of pubs and disco

Thanks Julian. I did skipped all the bloody Disco inside the Lijiang old town at night, so franking annoying

Indeed the Western influence is spreading from Beijing and Shanghai to rural areas at an enormous rate. Hopefully it all helps to get so many people out of poverty but the people in the more rural areas may not see much benefit from it. But it is still possible to find your way to uneffected areas and enjoy the wonderful hospitality of the local people; we stayed with wonderful ethnic minority families along the way. I'm sure you found that too.

The karaoke (we called KTV) is popular in main cities only
