Pentax DSLR's and lenses?

Can anyone bring me up to speed on pentax DSLR's and what pentax lenses will work?
How do I identify what lenses will work etc...
Also, can you get an adapter to use m42 lenses and maintain focusing to infinity?

i haven't stocked pentax cameras in a while but the PK mount always used to go on them giving manual focussing with spot metering, i would assume it is still the same today.

else all pentax AF lenses should work no problem.

You can get M42 mount adapters for all cameras (ebay German/Chinese suppliers are the people to look for) which generallt give infinity focussing no problem.

We used to stock the ist d when I was at the shop full time ... I'm sure I used to know this stuff but I just can't remember...
Why only spot metering?
How similar in function to Nikon is it, or do you need a higher model pentax to get a read out on the camera of the aperture ... ?

spot or center weighted... cant remember for sure....

no linkage to the aperture ring so cant get readings that way.

So it's just a case of the lens fitting on the camera and the rest is up to you... ...?

more or less, I believe it uses a system similar to stop down metering (view gets darker as you stop down aperture) however as i haven't picked one up in 5 years maybe someone could give confirmation...
