President Obama on Rosa Parks' Bus

On National Public Radio's website this morning I got a kick out of a photo taken of President Obama seated on the bus that Rosa Parks refused to go to the back of when ordered. This was a seminal moment in the US Civil Rights movement. The bus is in the Henry Ford Museum in Dearborn Michigan. I was there a few months ago and took a couple of shots inside the bus. I think I posted them before, but given the photo of Prez O in the same bus I thought I'd post them again.

Note that all the bus overhead lights are turned on for Prez O. When I was there only one overhead light was on, and I took this to indicate the location of the seat that Ms. Parks was seated in when ordered to move.

I prefer your images by far!
:D Thanks, Pete. I'm sure Mr. Souza, the president's photographer, could have got a better picture if he'd wanted to and had time. Or if he'd shoot with an Oly XA and 35mm film instead of a 5d or whatever that big black Canon is he uses. ;) I'm guessing they turned all the lights on for security reasons.

Hope you dont me just adding the shot in Brian! :)
Yeah, yours are nicer ... flash on green leather mmmm... ;)

Nae bother Hamish. In fact I appreciate it.

Yeah,...the flash bounce off the green leather suggests that Mr. Souza is primarily a documentarian. However, I've seen some very nice foties by him.
