Printer Servicing

Help!

I have an Epson Stylus Photo 1400, getting on a tad but has served me well until this weekend when of course I need to get some prints out! Grrrr!

Have two red flashing lights, Paper Feed and Ink, according to the Manual this indicates a jam of sorts, according to the software it shows service needed as some parts need replacing, Mmmm!

There is no jam, the printer is clean apart from some dust which is in those in accessible places.

So has anyone encountered such an issue before and if so what resolved it?
And hoping @Hamish Gill might be able to help being my local chap in the know, is there a reasonable printer service engineer local?

I don't want to bin it just because, if it is a simple service, but obviously if it's going to bleed the wallet then I'll have to rethink my future strategy for printing..

Cheers

Kev

I wish I could help mate ... they are so disgustingly disposable these things that most recommend the skip! Hopefully Paul can help!

Hi Kev, just seen this as I have been away and just got back. I think it is likely that the printer needs a reset. Really it should be serviced and a few bits and pieces replaced due to waste ink that is normally stored in some wadding at the bottom of the printer. I suggest that you have a search on Google for the service manual as this is always helpful for dismantling. You can sometimes buy the maintenance software on ebay but you can get a free copy of some third party software here http://www.ssclg.com/. There is a reasonable chance that you just need to reset the internal ink counters but probably worth giving a clean. This stuff along with the IPA spray from the same manufacturer will be very useful. http://www.amazon.co.uk/AF-Internat...3141029&sr=8-2&keywords=printer+cleaner+spray. At Marrutt.com you will find all sorts of very useful info about general cleaning and the SSCLG website is helpful too.
