Purdy and Bluebells

Purdy's neurosurgeon is the best in Europe, but she slipped up by falling in love with her patient. In spite of living with a brain tumour for the past seven years, Purdy is the happiest, most spirited cat we have ever known. She was nominated to be on the Animal Health Trust calendar a few years ago and I was asked to provide some photographs. This one didn't make it because another owner had photographed their dog in a bluebell wood, so I photographed her in a tree instead. This was a nice photoshoot regardless because we spotted her as a stray for the first time very close to this spot and to us it will always be known as Purdy's woods

The expression was the hardest thing. She was getting close to needing further surgery again and it was difficult to get something that looks focussed. I have actually had her on a harness in the busy car park of the Bishop's Stortford services. On the grassy bank right next to the motorway. She kept mugging people for fuss
