Purple and Blue

Long story short, i had some body paint left over from a fancy dress and as part of my studio (fashion/portraiture) work I decided to use it. I'm unsure if I like this picture or if its good enough to put in the exam portfolio. Any opinions/ideas on how to improve ??

How about making the background a colour that contrasts with the face paint? Or the more I look at it it could almost be a Natonal Geographic photo journalism type shot. With the exposure moved up a notch or two and a bit more grain added maybe?

I like the idea Lauren but, especially compared to your other work, I think it lacks something, particularly for a studio shot (focus is a touch off in the eyes, DoF could be a touch deeper). If it were me, I'd be looking for a stronger shot for my exam portfolio. Do you have others from the same session (I guess this was your favourite though)?

Pete - I wasn't to sure with this idea in the first place, i just had an idea and went with it, I'm quite disappointed with the whole shot tbh, but I'm going to have another go tonight cause i know what to do now

I didn't want to be too brutal but to be fair re-taking the shot rather than trying to rescue it would probably work out better. You could lose the shadow on the side of the nose.

That is definitely a more interesting take but I guess too much PP for A level. Also I miss the intense blue. I agree with Paul though ( and you I think), a re-shoot would be better.
