Aldous, these are really beautiful shots. I love the muted colours, and the compositions are always interesting. I love the first most of all - perfect framing for the girl.

I like this set, railways and carriages lend themselves to the use of lines which work well in these images :)

That is interesting Aldous. You know, I have a M8, M9 and a M Monochrom and have never even tried the JPEG output! These are coming out very nicely indeed though. I tend to shoot raw and import into Lightroom. I use Nik SilverFX for monochrome conversion / final editing of the Monochrom files. I also like the cross process effects in ColorFX and like the cross process aesthetic in general.

Pete, I picked up cameras for about 1.5 years only and I am ashamed to tell you that I am not familiar with any softwares like photoshop or lightroom, so I have never shoot raw and modify anything by softwares, not even slightly contrast really. One of the reason that I have never learn how to use photoshop is because I like photo shooting but not photo modifying. But no matter how my goal for this month is to pop up to the library to grab some books and to learn how to use photoshop :p
Between any reasons why you used lightroom instead of photoshop, thanks!

Lightroom is a good starting point and is a non-destructive raw editor. You can make virtual copies of your images and see what effects the various settings have. The learning curve is much shallower than for photoshop and Lightroom is, in many ways, a more complimentary tool to traditional photography. Why not download the trial from Adobe and have a play? Set the camera to raw though to give you a good starting point (you will soon be able to reproduce the JPEG output and will have more control of highlights etc). :)

These are wonderful! There is a real tangible mood captured in them which is somehow really elegantly mirrored by the leaf shot!

As for LR vs PS ... Stick with LR is my advice ... It's so simple to se once you get the interface that if anything it teaches you! Not that it looks like you need it to be honest ... :)
