Removing Grain

I shot these at Noble Ale Works, one of the small local breweries that has sprung up in recent years (a phenomena that has improved this country markedly!).

That's the brewer getting the spent grains from the mashtun. Don't know the folks in the first photo, but the young lady in 3/4 profile in the others is my eldest, Caiti.

Shot these with the Olympus XA and Arista EDU 100 film and processed the negs in Rodinal.

Caiti looks transfixed! It's good to relax and have a drink, while other people work on your behalf ;)

I like the tone to these, Brian. And all the movement adds to the fun.

Wow Brian never new that brewing interested you ;) A fine set of images.
How long does Rodinal last, is it correct unlike other developers it has along shelf life even after being opened?

Phew, that's a relief. When I first saw the title I thought, "I take my eye off the forum for a few days and Brian has gone wild over his new found digital photography bug and is now trying to remove grain from his film shots!". Thankfully, all is well and what I found instead was a wonderful set taken in a brewery. Love the touches of movement in these and that must be quite a potent pint judging by the effect it had on the fella in the first shot! ;)

Yes Julian I'm quite subtle about these things so it's no wonder it comes as a surprise. ;)

Thanks Julian.

Rodinal has a very long shelf life. Its one of its oft-mentioned virtues. Its sold in concentrate and when you use it highly diluted for stand development as I usually do it goes a very long way.

Never Pedro! Digital has its place, but its film I love to shoot! :)

Thank for the comments Pete.
