ROCK SAMPHIRE

[Julian de'Courcy]

Managed to get a bag of Rock saphire, Crithmum maritimum, delicious eaten in salad or lightly steamed and a dressing applied. Grows in abundance on the rocks and easy to get. Often prices start at £7 - 100 grams fresh. Very different from the most harvested and more commonly used salt water marsh samphire.

Thanks Pete, yes it reminded me of that when I saw it. The thistle had been knocked over , yet did look a bit as if it was a shop window arrangement.
