I vaguely remember @Hamish Gill organising an RPF Meet-Up before, somewhere in the shires of Ingerland, and I often thought we could have one in Edinburgh. But now the stars have aligned to make this an absolute MUST.
Over this summer we have three major exhibitions, all happening at the same time:
1. Lee Miller and Picasso - https://www.nationalgalleries.org/whatson/on-now-coming-soon/lee-miller-and-picasso/
It's an excellent event, well worth seeing. Some wonderful photography by and of Lee Miller. She was a close friend of Picasso, and captured him in many relaxed moments, both in his studio and elsewhere.
2. Photography: A Victorian Sensation http://www.nms.ac.uk/national-museum-of-scotland/whats-on/photography-a-victorian-sensation/ - 18,000 items from the birth of photography, images and equipment, some of it by Daguerre, some by Fox Talbot. Amazing.
3. David Bailey's Stardust https://www.nationalgalleries.org/whatson/exhibitions/baileys-stardust - starts on Saturday. Haven't seen it, but it should be good.
There are also events at the Stills Gallery, right in the heart of the city: http://www.stills.org/event/future
And of course, the other attraction is Edinburgh itself - a photographer's paradise (OK, I might be overselling it a little!).
Date: tbc after discussion here.
