color or b&w? i prefer the color version, but what i prefer doesn't always follow popular opinion.

shot in shenandoah national park. to the left of the tree is the overlook parking lot and i was about 1.5 feet from the car. my kind of hike. ;) esp. with the size of the gnats they're growing in the park. taken between rain showers.

fuji x-e1 and 14mm

Both are good but I prefer the black and white version with maybe a little more contrast in the distant hills. The color version needs more color IMHO. The brown grasses are a little distracting to me.

I'm going have to look into a 1.5 foot hike for a photograph. Seems like mine are an awful lot further than that. Last fall I got some nice photos that took me three days and 34 miles of hiking to get. ;)

thanks guys. ralph, that's an interesting comment. i had to add a lot of contrast to this in lightroom which makes the colors more vibrant. too vibrant in my opinion, i actually desaturated this quite a bit until i was happy.

on a side note, i think flickr is still sharpening photos..

Both are really good images and to be honest it would depend on the mood I was in.

I like colour images when the colours are soft and gentle like this and B & W for its dramatic feel. So if you do not mind I will sit on the fence on this one. Thanks for sharing. :)

I like the colour one best as he detail and blend of greens works well. As does the grey clouds which, when combined, give the best of both worlds.
