Critique Welcomed Street Faces...

You really have a knack of getting positive engagement with your subject Alfie and that leads to much more interesting shots than is often the case with more covert ones. OK, so in number one the relationship is not with you but I can imagine he would be delighted with the picture. The second is just wonderful and even more so because of the overlay of your image. And the third is a supper portrait also. Excellent stuff indeed. :)

Great set Alfie ........... Number 3 is definately my favourite. Although I'd be wary of anyone with a teardrop tattoo under their eye.

Thanks for sharing these

Thank-you all for the positive feedback!

I really enjoy the getting in close for street portraits & I've found so far most people don't mind too much tbh. I'm open & my camera is visable & I prefer to try to capture some sort of engadgement even if it means I have to wait for then to notice me.

Pete, I do think a more covert way of working can be better for capturing scenes with a few more people in them & not having any influence over the shot & capturing a more natural scene, but for this one subject up close portraiture I prefer camera to eye honesty.

Lesley, you should have ago! It's odd, but you can tell from peoples body language pretty early on, if they're going to mind or not, even before they've spotted my camera. If they look, or I feel they look uncomfortable I just drop the camera, smile & walk on!

Pete, I had a very quick chat with the tattoo guy after I had the shot & he seemed a really nice chap. I suspect the teardrop was just for show!

Thanks again!
