Suppliers of Developing and Printing Materials and Equipment

Following a discussion with Hamish, I have started a thread where we can list suppliers of developing and printing materials for analogue processes. So, for a start:

I mostly use Ilford materials and buy film and paper from SDS and other chemistry etc from Silverprint (as well as sleeves and storage boxes). The equipment produced by RH Designs is superb and I use a number of their timers and controllers and they are agents for the units built by Heiland Elektronik that I use in Germany (Jürgen Heiland speaks perfect English if you want any special modifications etc). Odyssey now manufacture DeVere enlargers and can supply refurbished machines (SDS supply used ones) as well as parts and are agents for Rodenstock enlarging lenses. Nova make probably the best print washers you can buy and some novel slot processors as well as supplying developing tanks etc.

There are of course other suppliers and most photographic suppliers can get some of the things you need. However, I've always found the above to be helpful and they satisfy most of my requirements. They are also specialised and dedicated to the field and so I try to support them when I can.

As a guide I tend to use the following both in the UK and Germany darkrooms:

Film, paper and 'normal' photo process chemistry (film and paper) - Ilford (usually ID11 and Multigrade)
Toners - Fotospeed
Film developing - either deep tanks, 'Patterson' tanks or Jobo Autolab 1500 (depending on number / format)
Enlarging - DeVere 504 / 507 + Ilford / Heiland head, Rodenstock lenses and RR Beard easels
Print developing - Ilford 2150RC (for RC paper) and trays / archival washer for fibre-based materials and toning.
Negative and print storage - Secol sleeves and Silverprint archival boxes

Hope this helps.

I discovered Silverprint a while ago when I was looking for inkjet printable coatings, they sell the Golden Range. One day I hope to experiment with different papers and substrates. The coating is supposed to be identical to that found on inkjet papers.

Yeah, lets try and make a nice thread of good links ... as they come we (the admin) can add them to the op ...

Andy here @ Bob Rigby Photographic Ltd , I keep a good range of Ilford in stock & as they are only down the road for us I can obtain most things very quickly for anyone that needs them, we will also be cheaper than going direct to Ilford for pick up sales that they operate/used to operate.
If I can help please feel free to contact me.
Andy
