Supporting the Community - Worcester Action for Youth

Tech Support (and Marketing)
Real Photographer Forum is very proud to announce our first Charitable Donation!

One of our members Kev Pugh does work for a charity called Worcester Action for Youth. I hadn't seen Kev for a long time, but happened to bump in to him at a battle re-enactment a few weeks ago where he mentioned that he was working for them. I had for a while been trying to think of ways in which the forum could support photography related charities.

Supporting charities already affiliated with the forum in someway seemed like the logical thing to do.
So I gave them a ring to see if they would like to be supported by the forum.
They thought it was a nice idea, but unfortunately at the time the forum had no money... so that's where we left it.

Thanks to recently receiving some sponsorship from Babelsberg we have now been able to make a small donation to this charity.

Victoria Cooper, WAY Manager says:

“We would really like to thank Hamish and the Real Photographers Forum for their kind donation.
It will be used directly with Young people accessing youth projects within Worcester City who take
part in photography workshops delivered by our Activity Worker Kevin Pugh. We work with a wide
variety of young people from across the city. It is our aspiration to enable them to try something
different with an Activity Worker who can share their enthusiasm, skills and experience and discover
for themselves a new interest and develop their creative skills in photography. Thank you for
approaching us with such a great idea and opportunity for us to extend our work in this area.”

You can read more about the charity and what Kev does for them on their website.

An exract from the"Worcester Action for Youth Constitution"
“To help and educate young people through their leisure time activities so to develop their physical, mental and spiritual
capacities that they may grow to full maturity as individuals and members of society and that their conditions of
life may be improved.”

Thank you to every single member of the forum for making it the place it is today, without your support we would not have attracted the sponsorship we have, and without that sponsorship we wouldn't have been able to make this donation! I am enormously proud of what we have collectively achived so far. With all your continued support hopefully we will be able to make more donations like this in the future!!

That is definitely the hope!
The ball is in Kev's court a little with the one, but fingers crossed!
I would be lovely to see how Kev is helping these kids and the results from their shoots ...
I'm not worried if it doesnt happen mind, I know Kev is a busy man ...

Hey guys, This is great, I know 'WAY' is extremely grateful and I am hoping that I will be able to post some of the work that the Young people do. I aim to give the youngsters hands on, with guidance, hopefully wise, so they learn through experience, their own, and judge their results and again hopefully consider photography as an art form in its own right, now there's a debate that has and will continue to roll on....:D I am always looking for ideas, one I am working on at the moment is alternative portraits, a person, an object, it doesn't matter but the idea is that you take 3 shots of the subject which can be used to identify that subject, but it can't be a full shot, in other words close up and looking at different angles. the idea is to get them to look at everyday stuff in a different way seems to work well. I will hopefully try to run a blog to keep the forum up to speed, but bear with me if it doesn't kick in straight away. If you have any ideas, thoughts etc. please feel free to pass them on to me. Our workshops aren't run as 'school room' but more as experiential informal learning. Thanks again for your support. Kev

If you get a blog up and running let me know and we will link it in with the Hugo logo at the top of the page along with Brians

That is a good idea you have going there Kev!

If they did join here you could use our "themes" as ideas for them, I would get off my arse and start new one every week if it would help?
