Surely that's a picture rail. It was probably used to store spare old masters!

Actually, it would have been formerly a stables. It's in a row of houses in a narrow, cobbled lane, where all the living quarters are above the stables. Some have made the area into a downstairs room, but many use them as a car park. Or, indeed, a plank and bike room.

This image is very nicely exposed, Rob. That Hexar seems a very capable machine.

Thanks, Brian. It's my No.1 camera. Sometimes it frustrates me, but only rarely. This image is under natural light, of course. I do have the flash unit for the Hexar, but have never even tried it out. Perhaps I should. I don't think I have ever used flash.
