I never think of London as having catacombs but why not of course. I like the presentation you have used Tom and the way it joins the images. You could even have used more texture or a discontinuous tone to blend them more. You can almost feel the damp and murk.

We will soon have someone working with us who is studying ossuaries - hopefully some visits will come out of that.

I was pretty well out of my depth when trying to conjure up some exposure settings for these and also trying to avoid my own shadow.. The place, as you can imagine, was very poorly light. I dislike flash but used it economically here. It helped that I shot in RAW so I was able to salvage some details from the blacker areas.
Pete could you explain what exactly you mean by discontinuous tone in this case please. I'm not sure I understand.

I was thinking that, rather than using just the brown tone, you could create a more mottled frame that sort of merged the images from one to the next.

I'm with you Pete. It would never have occurred to me to be honest. Food for thought.
I had given some consideration to having the images sitting on a backdrop of the overall graveyard.

That could work very well, especially if you ahem some faded and slightly out of focus ones.
