The Crucible

Just bought two tickets for the last-night performance of The Crucible, 19th March. Sadly, the ticket vendor said we could take pretty much any seat in the house, as it was empty. So, hopefully my photos will help fill the theatre to the brim! Wishful thinking, both for the theatre and for my photography!

If you don't know the play, it concerns witch hunts and religious hysteria in late 17th-century Massachusetts. But it was really targeting the Communist witch-hunt of McCarthyism in 1950s America. Therefore, you can imagine my delight when the guy turned up on the left...

Really love the mood expressed with these, Rob. Especially, the way the shadow that covers part of the poster. That shadow makes me think of how religious fanaticism still casts a shadow over today's world.

Cheers, John. You are right. The play is as relevant today, maybe more so, than in the 50s. I agree about that shadow. In the first, her face is also split in two, looking two ways at once. Truth and lies. Which one is the real Abigail?
