The Ferry Fair

Friday and Saturday marked the end of the week-long South Queensferry "Ferry Fair". You'll see the Burryman - a variation on the Green Man - covered in burrs from the plentiful burdock plants around the town. This ceremony is said to be traced back to the 12th century. He takes the evil out of the town, replacing it with good. And then there was the Saturday Parade, much singing and dancing in the street, parades of school floats, classic cars and Hells Angels on Harleys. All a bit odd.

I used the Leica Q2Monochrom, and digitally edited in Exposure 7 for Kodalith and Tri-Ex rendering here and there, for a grittier and more contrasty impression.

The next one - ahem - deliberately over-exposed...waiting for the parade to begin.

Excellent stuff Rob. They convey a great sense of the fun of the event.
I wonder if the Burryman ever turns up with the odd sheep stuck to his body?
