Why they stored bricks in the attic (there are more piles) is a mystery to me. The cellars would have been far more sensible I would have thought!

Well the person quite rightly thought either way to store them and use them, attic or cellar, you have to go equally up or down. So however far in the future he'd want them, he'd be older and therefore easier to bring them down from the attic than up from the cellar. Mistry solved
