I like this image a lot. I wonder what a tight closeup of one or more of those rubber squares might look like. They look like they have some abstract patterns on them, especially the one on the left side of the photo.

If this is in Europe, we have many beaches with outlets, but as far as sewerage here it is very clean and these outlets are used only in extreme cases of overfill and emergency. Basically dont stand in front in heavy flooding. As a child swimming in our harbour, you'd always swim past a bobbing brown canoe. No idea to this day why we called them little brown canoes. Then there was the loo which straddled across the span of the corner of the inner tidal harbour, for all to see what came out at low water.
