The Surge

Not a big surge but for a 5.2metre tide which is nearly short of a whole meter when the tide is at it's fullest. If this had been in this coming week a lot more of the harbour would have disappeared. The centre of the village behind the harbour shops is lower and with a strong spring tide is well below high tide sea level. So the shops and pubs are regularly knee or thigh deep in smelly water which comes up through the drains. Other wise this is the picturesque summer time holiday destination which takes on a different picture altogether.
Very dark so not great technically.

Interesting set Julian. A real weather moody feel.
You have to wonder what is going to happened as the ocean rises over time. There is a lot of concern here along the New England coast. Storms that wipe out whole towns are becoming the norm.

I think the world over. It does come to mind occasionally, what will it be like for our children's future? Lets hope all is fine.

Great set, cannot believe how much this bad weather is shutting down parts of the country.

Thank Nick. I know what you mean, yet I can understand why. It is mostly underinvestment. They are seriously thinking of closing many roads in our county, purely on the basis they cannot afford to resurface them.
Many roads are like farm tracks. This goes across the board with drainage , dredging water courses and the rest. So not surprised ,in the end the cost will be greater than what it would have been to initially have kept these services up to date.
This weather is not unknown, we simply are not prepared for it like we used to be.

Thanks for posting these images, Julian. They are very interesting.

Climate change due to man's impact on the environment,...? Nah! That's clearly just a liberal ruse to shut down well-meaning industry.

Some folks this side of the world are sticking their heads in the sand. I say whether you believe the science or not, we should ere on the side of caution.
