Critique Welcomed The Void

This was taken at a small taverna on the coast near Marathon and I had something quite specific in mind when I took it. Does it resonate at all?

Specific? Lazlo Woodbine falling backwards into a bottomless black pit of oblivion?

I was thinking about all those poor souls who, in desperation, cast themselves off into the Aegean from Turkey in the hope of finding a safer life and how terrifying it must be to step into such darkness. That gate led straight into the ocean.
