No problem Pete...I just liked the texture of the wood vs the spike. I'm in one of those I don't like anything I do moods...so this kind of kick started me.

I think the second works better than the first for me but that is not to say that I don't like it. I guess they are on a Quayside or telegraph poles?

They are part of the big timbers all along the piers here. They are constantly being repaired as the salt water and weather destroy them.
On top of this pier...
