The Wise Trees

No - it's not snowing here yet, but I'm thinking of wrapping up and spending a few hours in the local woods and fields very soon. This was taken a couple of years ago. The tree stands at the top of a hill on our neighbour's land and can just about be seen from our bedroom window in the winter. I found a poem at the time that I thought matched it very well. I hope it's OK to post it in here.

Winter Trees
By William Carlos Williams 1883–1963

All the complicated details
of the attiring and
the disattiring are completed!
A liquid moon
moves gently among
the long branches.
Thus having prepared their buds
against a sure winter
the wise trees
stand sleeping in the cold.
