Towards the Light

Been playing / looking at this image for some time now but decided now was the time to let it out. Taken on the path leading from the river to the church at Greywell just as the rain was starting.

Thanks Dan but I don't think it quite works. There is too much texture and it lacks 'focus'. I'm always drawn to this tree and the way the path curves. Maybe it will work better in the winter. I have some shots taken looking the other way but in the snow. They work better as the snow covers a lot and the outlines become more graphic.

Pete, would it work better if you cloned out the bright parts on the top LHS. You could select random areas of leaves just below it and past them a few layers think over the sky. With a bit of soft edge erasing you would never know.

When I put my hand over the that bright area of sky the rest of the image looks a bit more focused.

How about adjusting the highlights to bring it out a bit more??

I played with highlights and shadows quite a bit and even went as far as contemplating a 16:9 crop to lose the top LH highlight. Cloning might do it Paul, but I think this is just one of those images that just isn't good enough. I'll wander down there again in the winter.

I see what you mean Pete ... I have a few spots like this ... I know there is a shot there, just can't 100% make it happen!
I do like the pp though, the low tones make the image viewable where a normal mono of this might become confusing I don't think this does too much
A toughy that one I think!
