TWO HOLES ONE POLE

I like this spot and have photographed it a few times. It works best with a slightly wider lens such as 24mm. The ice plant door is opened against the pole and another pole, or short scaffold bar is placed in the hole holding the plant door open, ready to scoop ice into the Trawlers holds.
The worn concrete of texture and colours is what i find appealing.

Intriguing image, Julian. No way of telling what it is without the description you provide,...and even then I can't visualize it.

Nor can I. Actually, I'm unsure of it as an image, if the viewer doesn't have the contextual knowledge. But it clearly means a lot to you, Julian, as you have returned to the spot a few times. I'd like to say I love it, as usual with your images, but I'm struggling with this one. Sorry!

No problem Rob, I sympathise and it is not a strong image, that is without doubt so in all honesty I think you're spot on. Iv'e had better by far from this spot.

I just love these detail shots you do, Julian. I love the gradation of light and pool of dark in the second hole.
Thanks Pete. Yes I like the idea and have done a few in the past. In the past though I'd spend quite some time on the images maybe up to twenty or more minutes. Now I am lacking that enthusiasm to post process raw files as I used to and aught to have got more from this file, which is one reason I felt it could have been stronger.

I have to agree with Pete and the explanation only ads to the image, but surely for people who might have been raised in a vicinity of fishermen and a fishing village, it helps. Others as I see, have a problem and most understandably:rolleyes: A great image with the pole and its direction towards the holes as well as the colours and use of DOF here. Very well done Julian.

Thank you Ivar.
