Underneath the Forth Bridge

A couple of years ago I read The Great Bridge, by David McCullough. It's the story of the building of the Brooklyn Bridge. And what a story it is! I've recently acquired an appreciation of bridges more for their design and esthetic than their functionality (though I'd rather they stay up than fall down). I imagine there must be some wonderful tales of the building of the Forth Railway Bridge, given that it is so iconic.

What I like about these images of yours Rob is how you've captured the curvature of the concrete piers as emphasized in the stains dripping down. Number three especially is excellent.

Thanks, Brian. I like how nature seems to want to tear it down...quite a dynamic between them.

When something appears to be bridge, but isn't, it's just a pier.

I just made that up. I get the feeling someone, somewhere, sometime, said the same thing. But without evidence, I'll claim it!

I like the patterns in the stonework, gives it a sense of age. The contrast between the hard lines of the bridge and the detail of the branches works well.
